Applied Learning Box

Evergreen designs applied learning check-ins that turn coaching insights into daily habits and sustainable systems — connecting every engagement back to your organization's unique vision and values.

The Suitcase Stories

The highest compliment a client can pay us.

When an exec moves to a new company and one of the first calls they make is to Evergreen — that's the measure we care most about.

Carla Balen SPHR

Four companies, one relationship built on trust and consistent results.

Diana Frost

When Diana led Mars Wrigley Sales in Toronto, we helped her build her team. When she became the Chief Growth Officer of Kraft Heinz North America, we helped her launch her team in Chicago. When she got promoted to Global Chief Growth Officer, we helped launch her team in Amsterdam.

Donovan Mattole

Brought Evergreen with him from Banfield to Mars to Brenntag. The Catalyst Leadership program went so viral that we had to learn Spanish so we could deliver in Mexico, Colombia and across Latin America. We developed 1,300 leaders!

Turnaround Story

From the most dysfunctional triad in a billion-dollar company — to award winners.

3 leaders in a conflicted triad going in · 20% market growth within 2 months · 2 leadership awards among 100 peers

  • 1. A regional VP came to her team with a blunt brief

'All three of you are about to get fired. I'm giving you one day with a coach to get your act together.'

  • 2. We started with the 4 H's exercise

We had them tell stories about their Hometown, Highlight, Hardship, Hero. This built vulnerability-based trust and helped them assume positive intent.

  • 3. Root cause

A leader whose workaholic father only praised him when he found flaws in parts in their factory. He thought criticism was how you add value.

  • 4. The other two leaders had an epiphany

He wasn’t trying to be a jerk and ruin their lives every day. They recommitted to their mission. They made specific requests and mutual commitments to their colleagues. Friday accountability check-ins for 30 minutes.

  • 5. Two months later

Their market was up 20%. They had gone from Forming to Storming to Norming and now High Performing.

  • 6. By year end

One was named Medical Director of the Year and another won a Leadership Award among 100 peers. The third leader was let go because there was too much negative water under the bridge. However, he left with a new vision of himself and became an amazing VP in his next role, known for his newfound EQ.

The 4 H's

Where we often start with new or conflicted teams:

Hometown

Where did you live and what did you do?

Highlight

Something you're proud of, personally or professionally.

Hardship

A challenge that shaped who you are.

Hero

Someone you look up to and why.

Hear Evergreen's approach to teams — in conversation with a pioneer.

'Every time I talk to somebody about the work Evergreen does, all I hear is how brilliant they are working with leaders and with teams.'

Carlos Valdes-Dapena pioneered the High Performance Collaboration framework at Mars Inc. This conversation covers the turnaround story above, the 4 H's, escape room research and what it means to treat people as human beings, not human doings.

Virtual done right — not virtual done easy.

We partner with NYC professional actors as producers. We infuse improvisational leadership skills throughout. We design escape game sequences. The result is a dynamic experience, not a meeting with slides.

What our clients say

  • Sam has designed and his team at Evergreen have led some of our highest-rated virtual and in-person leadership courses in our organization. They’ve trained more than 1,800 Bridgestone leaders. They have connected with all types of leaders, from first time leaders in manufacturing to our executives in our corporate offices. Their professionalism and ability to connect to people is unmatched.

    Rachel M. Thomas
Director of Culture and Engagement, Organization and Team Effectiveness · Bridgestone Americas

  • For the past 10 years, I was VP of Clinical Operations for a 350-physician group with 1,700 employees and a $375M budget. I have had many professional coaching experiences and mentors during my career transitions — but Evergreen is different. I was led through a process of self-discovery. They used stories and questions to unleash stores of energy which were previously undiscovered but always present. They were especially helpful in getting me 'un-stuck' from my usual way of solving problems — allowing me to use my own emotional intelligence and extensive experience to design a new way of being. I have been able to go from very specific daily actions to an understanding of what provides meaning in my life as a whole. They helped me put together a linkage between my personal life, my emotional needs, my spiritual self, and my professional future into a uniform picture of balance and success.

VP, Clinical Operations · Palo Alto Medical Foundation, part of Sutter Health

  • Sam has an amazing ability to read a room, adapt his facilitation style and truly connect with the people he's working with. His passion and authentic nature are contagious. Over the past decade, each engagement has delivered tremendous results.

    Donovan Mattole
Head of Human Resources · Brenntag Americas (formerly Mars Wrigley)

  • Sam facilitated our Leadership Offsite. He immediately brought humanity and a sense of humor to our session. Sam’s approach to engaging our leaders was perfect for the time, knowing we were a newly formed group. He kept the dialogue flowing with activities to challenge us to think differently and put us in one another’s shoes. The team walked away more familiar with one another’s skills and opportunities for us to tackle as a group. I’d highly recommend Sam if you need a facilitator and thought partner for your Leadership Team.

    Jeremy Bolds
VP @ Nike · General Manager, Retail Sales, Account Management

  • What set Sam apart was his ability to weave personal storytelling and genuine humor into content that had real strategic weight. He wasn't just engaging, he was purposeful. Sam took the time to understand the specific leadership behaviors we were cultivating as a team and shaped his entire session around reinforcing them. The result was a retreat that felt cohesive rather than disconnected, and a team that left energized and aligned.
In healthcare, we work in a mission-driven environment where leadership development goes beyond skill-building. Sam understood that. His approach honored the whole person, including the spiritual and relational dimensions that matter deeply in our community. That's rare, and it resonated.

    Jeff Mock
System Service Line Executive · Adventist Health

  • Sam and his team don't deliver a program — they deliver a transformation. They took the time to understand who we are and where we want to go. The result felt like it was made for us, because it was. Sam and I co-created one of the highest rated sessions that engaged our 800 store managers and left them not just talking about but living it in the months that followed.
